But before I tell you about this book, let me tell you how it came to be written. I was eight or nine years old and sitting on the side of my bed reading Revelation 6:1-2, about the rider on the white horse, when God spoke to me for the very first time. He said, “Would you like to interpret that?” I said, “Wow, yeah, that would be great, but there is not enough information in the text that would allow someone to figure it out.” It did not register in my brain that God had just spoken to me. I then completely forgot about it until about 2 years after I first began writing a book on Bible prophecy.
But I have jumped ahead. Then, when I was eleven years old, a visiting preacher spoke on a Wednesday evening about Daniel chapter 7 and gave a new interpretation, which I found enthralling. I even went forward and stood in line and was prayed for by him, which was the first time I had ever done that. I also forgot about this fellow until likely the same year that I remembered being called of God to interpret Bible prophecy. I thought I had figured out the first two beasts of Daniel 7 for myself until I remembered him.
Then in my late teens or early 20s, I cannot remember exactly, I read Hal Lindsay’s, Late Great Planet Earth, which left me wanting to know more. So I went to the local college library and read a book they had called, More Than Conquerors, which is an exposition of Revelation. However, I was shocked to find out how little actual interpretation it gave. I just knew, instinctively, that the symbols of Revelation have a literal meaning that we can figure out, or God would not have given us the book.
Not too long afterward, I started my research to find the correct interpretation, and would not have dedicated my adult life to it, except for the important foundational discovery I soon made. That discovery caused me to believe that I really could write a book with the correct interpretation of Revelation, and I wrote the first draft of this book at age 25, with an ink pen on notebook paper. Then I used a manual typewriter, then an electric typewriter, then a word processor, and eventually a computer. I had no idea that it would take me more than 40 years to finally get all the pieces of the puzzle put together. I even returned to college and got a B.A. in journalism with a minor in history in order to write a better book.
As you would expect, when I told people I was writing a book interpreting the book of Revelation, I received a lot of skepticism and disbelief because I had not been to Bible college or seminary. Even, “Who do you think you are?” But anyone can read and understand those seminary textbooks. You don’t need a Ph.D. in eschatology to know that the “experts” on the subject are not in agreement. So who is right, or are any of them right?
I was also greatly attacked by local “Christians,” who began to meet together and plot how they could destroy me. I even became homeless because of their slander and backstabbing.
Researching and writing takes a great amount of time, so being unemployed because of medical issues and slander allowed me to make progress on the book. Then, when I was 41 years old, God said, “I have another challenge for you.” I said, “Oh, no, I have had enough difficulties; I don’t need any more.” But of course he ignored that response and said that my interpretations of the beast and false prophet were wrong; that they are based in Islam. I requested confirmation, then, in a matter of days, al-Qaeda bombed two US embassies in African countries. So I went to the local library and began researching Islam.
Little did I know that the one book would turn into a series, or that God would also call me to write several other books.
